Realizing that ADHD is really more of an emotional processing disorder than a “learning disability” changed my entire life
As I see it adhd influences the way a person internalizes reality as it’s happening. This has two major components: emotional processing and its relationship to informational processing. In other words people w adhd have difficulty bc we lack the ability to experience and interpret simultaneously.
Thats why we’re so impulsive cuz in the moment while we are overstimulated we just blurt out whatever the fuck. But I’ve also realized over the years that this preliminarily impulsive behavior is a KEY part of how we learn. Like as annoying as it is, we need to be constantly verbalizing/otherwise working thru our initial shock when presented w new information even tho most of what we say/believe during that period makes literally no sense and does not align w the conclusions we ultimately draw. It’s a crucial step in the adhd learning process and don’t let anyone tell u otherwise
